This morning at 11.30 the temperature outside was 24 degrees! I'm not a fan of very hot weather and the dogs are struggling in the conditions. It will probably reach 26/27 this afternoon and the forecast is for more of the same. Mottos Friend who is due to pup in the middle of next week is now happily lying on the clod tiles in the kitchen, the wife's away for the weekend so every one's happy! Thankfully Elish called over this morning whilst on a call out in the area and cast her eye over them just to be on the safe side. She is Colettes sister in law and the local vet which is handy. She is a great girl who wouldn't be too knowledgeable about greyhounds in particular but is a great help with the basics such as whelping, vaccinations and first aid.
She give some good commonsense advice of plenty of shade, plenty of cold fresh water and a quiet environment. It will be a day for turning the dogs out to empty and nothing else, they hopefully might get out walking this evening when in cools down a bit. I don't know how our American and Australian counterparts cope with these conditions on a regular basis.
